Mayor’s Youth Council

The MYC provides young people with the opportunity to learn about civic government and the priority projects of the Mayor.  The purpose is to engage with youth to get their input and proposed solutions on the projects and challenges the city is facing. Additionally, council members meet with the Mayor to provide input, leadership and ideas on effective solutions to the most pressing issues and problems facing young people.

YVC Charleston is one of many affiliates across North America. Our mission is to promote a lifetime commitment to service among the youth of Charleston by offering volunteer projects throughout the school year and during the summer with the Summer Service-Learning Institute.
