Youth Advisory Board (YAB)

YAB members commit to a year-long service opportunity. The YAB consists of highly-motivated and driven young adults who have a heart and passion for service. Members meet on a regular basis to discuss upcoming events, opportunities and to steer the direction of YVC of Charleston. 

When You Commit to the YAB You:

  • Are Expected to Attend All Meetings 
  • Agree to Provide Valuable Input and Help Plan and Implement Events
  • Represent YVC of Charleston at Your School and Community 
  • Will Work to Recruit New Members
  • Will Attend YVC Events On a Regular and Consistent Basis 

Aaliyah Head

Aaliyah is home schooled and in the 11th grade. She has volunteered over 34 hours since joining YVC in 2017. She enjoys helping others and her goal this year is to bring new ideas for the YAB members. I appreciate this opportunity I’ve been given and I look forward to this new experience! 


Adrian Clark

Adrian is a 7th grader at West Ashley Advanced Studies Magnet. Adrian joined YVC as a Summer Service-Learning Institute attendee in 2019 and has given over 40 hours since. This is Adrian’s first year on the Youth Advisory Board. 


Andrew Farrell

Andrew is an 12th grader attending James Island Charter High School. He has volunteered a total of 49 hours since joining YVC of Charleston and enjoys serving the community. His favorite event has been volunteering and preparing for the First Day Festival. This is Andrew’s second year on the Youth Advisory Board. 


Faith Brown

Faith is in 10th grade at Palmetto Scholars Academy. She joined YVC in 2016 and has given over 94 hours. Her goal for the year is “to be of service whenever possible.” This is her second year on the YAB. She has attended three national summits as well. Her favorite event is the Ronald McDonald House. She is now averaging about 75 hours a year of volunteer service with multiple groups. She is a certified lifeguard and has been a girl scout since 3rd grade.


Keory Ancrum

Keory is a 10th grader at James Island Charter School. He joined YVC of Charleston in 2016 and has given over 170 hours since! His goal for this year is, “Just to enjoy giving back in service.” His favorite event is the Ronald McDonald House. He also served as a Brand Ambassador and International Youth Advisory Board member.


LaNiece Heyward

LaNiece is in the 10th grade at Goose Creek High School. She joined YVC of Charleston in the summer of 2016 as a Summer Service-Learning Institute attendee. Since then she has given over 116 volunteer hours at over 40 service projects.


Lily Bluestein

Lily is a junior at Academic Magnet High School. Since joining YVC in summer 2017, she’s given over 40 volunteer hours. Her favorite events so far have been face-painting at the First Day Festival and making placemats for Meals on Wheels in honor of MLK Day. She is excited to serve for her second year on the YAB!


Peter Claiborne

Peter is a 10th grader at Charleston Charter School of Math and Science. Peter joined YVC of Charleston in June 2017 and has given over 127 hours. Peter attended one year of the Summer Service-Learning Institute. His favorite event thus far was volunteering at the Luke 14 Banquet. Peter’s goal is to make people happy by giving back to the community. 


Vansh Nagpal

Vansh is an 11th grader at the Governor’s School for Math and Science. He joined YVC of Charleston in May of 2016 and has given over 72 hours of service. This is his third year as a YAB member. He enjoys volunteering at the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry and his goal for this year is to, “Do well in school and give back to our amazing community as well.”
